I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted anything, and a few things have changed.

For one, as of February 2012, my name is Kay Eldredge. (geez I can’t believe I’ve neglected this blog for so long)

Second, I’m not going to school anymore. I don’t know when I’ll return to school, or what for, but I would like to someday graduate from college. For now, I’m working, trying to be a self-sufficient adult.

I’ve been crocheting a lot, and I’m getting pretty good at it. I make amigurumi animals and hats. I’ve also got an Etsy site.

I’m kuntwithakay on instagram.

White Still Life
February 2012
White charcoal and white conte crayon on black drawing paper
* It’s not quite finished; there’s more work to be done on the paper lamp, as well as the banner on the wall. I would have completed it that night if it weren’t for that gosh darn human need for sleep.

I found myself in a beginning drawing class at community college this term.

I was disappointed at first, worried that I would just become frustrated in the class because I’m kind of too good at drawing for such a basic class.

But I decided to challenge myself and take the class left-handed.

As it turns out, I’m actually ambidextrous, and I had just never bothered to put a pencil in my left hand before.

I have noticed a lot of improvement in my art this term compared to what I was doing a year ago and I think I can thank my left hand for that. Also, charcoal has always been the absolute bane of my existence, but my left hand loves charcoal. Which is good, because this class is about 90% charcoal.

Anyway, I’ve got all of my assignments from this term so far in my Queue, so please enjoy my new-and-improved art!

Yet another self portrait.
Graphite and a touch of white ink in my sketchbook.
I don’t currently have access to a scanner so unfortunately this is the best quality image of the drawing I could get.
